10 Home Maintenance Tips For Spring Season
Now that Spring is in full swing, it’s important to target the areas that need maintenance in your home with this simple checklist.
- Examine Roof Shingles - Check to see if any roof shingles were lost or damaged during the winter weather. Replace pieces that are damaged.
- Probe the Wood Trim - Use a screwdriver to probe the wood trim around windows, doors, railings and decks. Make repairs now before the spring rains do more damage to the exposed wood.
- Check the Gutters - Check for loose or leaky gutters and make sure downspouts drain away from the foundation and are free of debris.
- Use Compacted Soil - Spring rains can cause yard flooding and bring insects.
- Examine the Chimney - Have the flue inspected for signs of damage and cleaned from the winter usage.
- Inspect the Concrete - Check for signs of cracks or movement then fill cracks with concrete filler or silicone caulk.
- Move Firewood - Make sure to remove wood near the home at least 18 inches off the ground and 2 feet from the structure.
- Check Outside Faucets - Check for freeze damage, proper pressure and dry rot in garden hoses.
- Service the AC Unit - Have the unit cleaned and serviced by professionals and change interior filters on a regular basis.
- Check Power Equipment - Check lawn equipment power supply, clean equipment and sharpen cutting blades for your spring and summer usage.
